Energy credits, EC

Description: The most basic currency, and also the easiest to obtain.

Uses:
EC can be used to buy basic items, such as food and commodities, and requisition equipment for both ships and ground combat. They are also needed when you wish to replicate an item (open the inventory and click 'Replicator'). The most important use of EC is probably in the Exchange, where you can buy (and sell) all manner of of items, including ship requisitions and duty officers - all for energy credits.

EC are ubiquitous, and you will earn at least some without even trying. EC can be obtained by:
- Recycling items in the replicator (Right-click -> discard in the inventory)
- Selling items to merchants or at equipment requisition points (only if point deals in EC, not dilithium)
- Selling items in the exchange
- Completing assignments with your duty officers

One thing to watch out for, however, is the amount of EC you are receiving for selling equipment. If you move your mouse over an item, you will see its value in EC. Most merchants, as well as recycling, will give you less than half of the value. After some trials I found that the best place to sell unwanted items are the ship / ground requisition points, which will pay you exactly half of the quoted value. This may still not sound particularly attractive, but will still contribute quite a bit to your EC balance.

When selling on the Exchange it is always worthwile to check for similar items and their asking prices first. Be careful when typing in your price; a digit too few may lead to a quick sale but still leaves that bitter taste of lost profits. Equipment can be withdrawn at any point, and items that do not sell expire after a while. If this happens they can be collected from a mail terminal (You cannot pick items up from your mailbox unless you are using a proper terminal on a station).

Fleet credits, FC, and Fleet Marks

Description: A credit form that can only be obtained by, and used for fleet-related things


Uses:
Fleet credits can be spent on:
- Fleet ships (available at any capable shipyard)
- Fleet items, such as boosters and provisions (Available on the fleet starbase)


Sources:
Fleet credits are obtained by donating resources to the fleet, mainly for starbase projects. Open the fleet menu, click on holdings and have a look at the different projects to see what resources are needed. Different resources will yield different amounts of fleet credits per unit. Fleet credit is also the basis of the current promotion system and a simple measure of your contributions to the fleet.
In lieu of other materials, the easiest way to obtain Fleet Credits is through Fleet Marks.

Fleet marks can be obtained in two ways.

Nukara Prime
At any time, head to Nukara Prime in the Eta Eridani block ("South" of Sirius, where you start the game). Beam down and speak to the expedition leaders Exterior - found outside on the platform where you beam down - or Interior, found in the cave near the landing platform.
You should always pick up all available missions, as they overlap to some extent. Teaming up with others is all but essential when doing medium missions. Hard missions are not possible to do with less than five people, so don't waste your time.

You must wear an environmental suit and turn it on by pressing the button above the skill bar.. An environmental suit can be purchased in the Asteroid Mining system in Beta Ursae (costs 100 dilithium), but regular visitors of Nukara Prime should have plenty of spare suits. Ask in the fleet chat or forum if someone has an extra for you, if you need it.


Fleet Marks Events

Every few hours a fleet marks event, lasting two hours, begins. During this event, certain PvE missions will earn you fleet marks based on you team's performance. Click on Hail Starfleet and scroll through the events to see when a fleet event is next due to happen. Click on the event to see a list of the affected PvE missions. You can join these via the PvE icon under the minimap.

As with any PvE, you will be teamed up with Randoms when joining. If possible, form a group with other fleet members and do these events together to earn more marks for the fleet and yourself.
